Prompt payment
7 / 10 days
On a private job the GC must pay you within 7 days of being paid by the owner. On public work, 10 days. Texas Prompt Payment Act.
Late interest
18% / yr
Paid late on a private job, you are owed 1.5% a month in interest. Public jobs run prime plus 1%, currently about 8.5% a year, and a prevailing sub can recover attorney's fees.
Lien notice
The 15th
Send the lien notice by the 15th of the 3rd month after unpaid work (2nd month for residential). File the lien affidavit by the 15th of the 4th month (3rd for residential).
